EXA Infrastructure’s Major Expansion in London
Published · 2 min read

Telehouse International Corporation of Europe and EXA Infrastructure have announced an expansion at the Telehouse South facility, one of the newest data centers located in the bustling area of London Docklands. This move involves the addition of two high-capacity, fully diverse fibre cables, which are designed to bolster the infrastructure and service offerings in London’s metro area.
Deepening a Two-Decade Partnership
This latest development is a continuation of a long-standing, 20-year relationship between Telehouse and EXA Infrastructure. It reaffirms their commitment to providing a full range of digital infrastructure services. These services are crucial for businesses looking to maintain robust and reliable digital communications systems.
The expansion at Telehouse South includes the commissioning of a protected DWDM node. This technology is from Infinera, known for its Flex technology, which supports high-speed data transmission rates up to 400G and a broad spectrum. This improvement is set to enhance the capabilities of businesses in the area, offering them faster and more reliable service.
Will Scott, Vice President of Sales at Telehouse Europe, expressed his enthusiasm about the ongoing partnership: “We’re thrilled that EXA is supporting Telehouse in providing complete diversity at our Telehouse South data center. This allows us to expand the range of services we can offer to our UK customer base.”
Steve Roberts, SVP of Strategic Investments and Product Management at EXA Infrastructure, also shared his thoughts: “This new investment extends and complements the advanced services we already provide to the dynamic London market. Telehouse South is an ideal location for our expansion in fiber and transmission, enabling us to build on the several footprints we already have across the Telehouse Docklands campus.”
Boosting Infrastructure and Connectivity
Since its opening in 2022, Telehouse South has become a crucial site for connectivity, especially with the recent addition of two floors. This expansion has increased the IT capacity of the facility significantly:
- Initial IT capacity: 2.3 MW
- New additional capacity: 5.4 MW
- Total updated capacity: 7.7 MW
The strategic location of Telehouse South, near the City and Canary Wharf, ensures low-latency connectivity to London’s financial district, which is vital for high-speed trading and financial services.
Furthermore, Telehouse is committed to sustainability. The entire Telehouse Docklands facility, including Telehouse South, uses 100% renewable energy. This energy is backed by UK renewable energy guarantees of origin (REGOs), ensuring that all energy consumed is environmentally friendly.
Looking to the Future
EXA Infrastructure plans to continue its investments in the region, aiming to further enhance service capabilities and support the growth of their customers. This commitment is seen as a part of a broader strategy to strengthen London’s position as a leading global digital hub.
